In the News: Small Businesses Get $145.7B in Prime Contracts from the Federal Government


When small businesses are awarded contracts by the federal government, they pay off in many different ways. And that’s just what happened with $145.7 billion in initial contracts for small businesses. According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), $145.7 billion in prime contracts along with another $82.8 billion in subcontracts awarded to small businesses were responsible for creating nearly one million jobs.

This article awards the federal government $145.7 billion in contracts to small businesses, in a report this week, looking at efforts by the SBA and the federal government to award at least 23% of contracts to small businesses. But this year, they awarded 26.01% of all federal contracts, exceeding the mandatory 23% on major contracts.
